I had the pleasure of chatting with Caroline Italia Carlson, artist and host of the Passionate Painter Podcast. As an introvert this experience was both nerve wracking and exhilarating. Our interview started off with several tech issues that turned out to be the perfect way to break the ice! Caroline's warm and welcoming demeanor quickly put me at ease, her passion for art was truly infectious, and the conversation began flowing.

A Sneak Peek

In the first part of our chat, we kicked things off with a brief intro into my journey as a self-taught artist and where I find my inspiration. For me, nature is my biggest inspiration, but sprinkle in a dash of curiosity and a pinch of wonder, and you've got magic! Looking at the world with childlike innocence turns everything into a work of art!

This perspective allows us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, to find beauty in the simplest of things. It's about finding the magic in the mundane, embracing the unexpected and celebrating the small moments that often go unnoticed. Whether it's the playful dance of leaves in the breeze or the vibrant colors of a sunset painting the horizon, there's always something to marvel when we see with our hearts.

From here we flowed into tackling the big scary monster called fear—specifically, the fear of facing a blank canvas or page, a dilemma many new artists find themselves up against. Embracing creativity often means confronting fear. I encourage everyone to see their blank canvas as a playground for their imagination. One effective approach is to start is with an old magazine or book, which can alleviate a lot of stress and fear because you’re not technically starting with a blank space. I’ve written a whole blog post on this topic just for you—dive in and check it out here!

As our chat continued, we jumped into the journey of my creative business and how it all came about. I’d always been drawn art, finding joy in drawing and storytelling. When I dove back into my artistic journey as an adult, I couldn’t help but share my creations with friends, family, and the world. The flood of compliments and positive feedback I received filled my heart and one day it hit me—why not turn this passion into something more?

I dove headfirst into the market scene, showcasing my original artwork. The response was heartwarming, and before I knew it, I was immersed in a world of creativity and entrepreneurship. As my business blossomed, so did my dreams, and I began teaching art and spreading the joy of creativity through workshops.

Next, we explored how to efficiently photograph your artwork for reproductions, read all about here, before moving into the second part of our interview- how I grow my audience through social media and email.

Our final chat topic is all about giving your creative space a fabulous makeover to spark your creativity, dive into the juicy details here.

Whether you're tuning in during your morning coffee or while winding down this evening, I hope you get just as much joy from listening as I did in participating. Your support means the world to me, and I’m excited to hear your thoughts. Here's to future opportunities filled with meaningful chats and delightful surprises!
