Easy Steps to Create a Beautiful Fall Canvas
Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday of the year! I get to ditch my day job and spend my morning in the art studio—thank you, turkey day.
This year I created a beautiful canvas perfect for fall with rich oranges, deep reds, sunny yellows, and dark greens dancing across the surface, capturing the essence of autumn's splendor. Each brushstroke is infused with the spirit of the season, celebrating the cozy warmth and vibrant beauty that surrounds us.
A Cozy Background
As you know, most of my art starts with a delightful layer of collaging. I sift through cardstock, magazines, and dusty old books, letting the textures and colors mingle together to create the perfect composition. Each little scrap sparking inspiration and weaving the story together.
Next comes the fun part of additional layers and depth. I used a dash of paint to push the collage into the background, then tossed in some decoupage napkin for oh-so-delicious texture.
The Little Extras
Since I was already picturing leaves cascading down the canvas, I thought, why not add some ink drips for an artistic splash. As the ink trickled down mingling with the vibrant background colors, it added a nice sense of movement to the canvas. I’m a firm believer that less is always more and that your artwork will always tell you when it’s done. As I looked my art over, I couldn't resist the urge to add more texture with a pop of white paint and my favorite stencil.
A vibrant layer of napkin leaves takes center stage with a catchy phrase, weaving a tapestry of warmth and coziness over the canvas. The colors blend harmoniously, capturing the essence of autumn. As I added the finishing touches, a sense of delight wrapped around me like a comforting embrace. Bringing the whole piece together is one of my favorite things! I just love watching my vision come to life and seeing all the elements work together to create something so beautiful.
