Joy of Giving
I've never given much thought to the whole "rock" craze going on right now but in the last couple of weeks I've stumbled upon several painted rocks while out enjoying the upcoming fall season and they've got me thinking. I'm not big on fads...I like what I like whether its popular or not and that's just never going to change but I love this idea of painted rocks more every time I find one.
I'm not one of those people that's on a mission to track them all down or see how many I can find but I have to admit, it's a beautiful surprise when I stumble upon one. There's something so beautiful and inspiring about finding someone's creativity and devotion in random places. With all of the terrible things going on in our world today it brings joy to my heart each time I find one.
This world needs more love and it amazes me how much joy something as simple as a rock can bring someone. It's like sharing a smile or giving a hug. You may never meet the person who finds the rocks you've left behind but you may change someone's life by doing it.
I truly believe that kindness spreads when it is shared and that's why I've joined the rock journey in my own community. Every time I find one of these tiny treasures I simply snap a photo and leave the rock there to brighten another person's day.
Mom and I have an obsession with rock collecting, we've been doing it for years. We can't walk a beach without picking up at least one (or a few dozen) and living in the PNW, just minutes from the sand makes it an addictive hobby. So I've decided I want to be a bigger part of this beautiful community of creatives spreading joy and love. I'm now painting my own to leave behind on my travels and day to day journeys. Each one is simple, full of color and easy to create.
All you need to get started is a rock collection of your own, some acrylic paint, a few brushes, and a sealer (I use Americana Duraclear Satin Varnish). There are no rules and the only limits are your own creativity. Pour your heart, love and beauty into each and every one and your sure to create something gorgeous!
Happy Crafting,
Misty
