Dreaming of Spring Art Journal
I’ve never been a winter kinda girl. Sure, the icy grip of winter, with its nippy mornings and frost covered landscapes, might look like a postcard of tranquility, but oh, how I crave the vibrant colors and warmth of spring! I daydream of those sun-soaked days when the light lingers longer, casting agolden glow on everything it touches. The delightful aroma of blooming flowers and the cheerful songs of birds returning home fill me with absolute joy and happiness.
In these sunny months, the world is buzzing with life and bursting with opportunities—it's like an open invitation to adventure and unforgettable memories! Whether I'm meandering through a sun-kissed park or exploring art in my studio, every moment radiates a special kind of energy that makes my heart sing.
Even in the depths of winter, this love of spring often spills over into my art, each piece infused with vibrant colors and blooming flowers.
Beautiful Backgrounds
While strolling through the Christmas clearance at Hobby Lobby the other day, I stumbled upon a stunning paper pack that sparked the inspiration for today’s journal page!
I kicked off the layout by creating a vibrant collage with my stunning new paper. The colors danced across the page, forming a harmonious blend of textures and hues with the magazine images.
Though beautiful, it felt a tad too soft and pastel for my taste. So, I decided to brighten it up with a vibrant splash of rich yellow to seamlessly blend the collage and crank up the energy. Followed by... you guessed it, mark making with my trusty brayer. The dots from the brayer created a fun, whimsical feel I instantly loved! To up the level of feminine wile and girlie charm, I tossed in a bunch of gorgeous pink tissue paper roses.
Feminine Charm
I've always been enchanted by women's faces; they’re a living masterpiece filled with beauty and mystery. Each one has a story to tell, painted with expressions of joy, sorrow, love, and wisdom. Those sparkling eyes? They can laugh or shimmer with unshed tears, saying more than words ever could. And let’s not forget that smile or a furrowed brow – they can express feelings more beautifully than the fanciest poem.
In the graceful swirls and gentle curves, there’s a testament to resilience and strength, a reflection of countless experiences and dreams. From the soft blush of a cheek to the playful lift of an eyebrow, each detail is a brushstroke in the masterpiece of individuality.
With the coming year, I’ve decided to fully embrace my passion for incorporating faces into my art.
Once I finished outlining and shading the face, I started adding color to details like her lips, hair, skin, and eyes. I also tossed in a bit of Washie tape and drips of white acrylic to create some movement in the background.
