DIY Painted Windchimes
Skill Level: Beginner
Time Needed: 15 minutes
Who doesn’t love the sound of the wind as it rustles the leaves and blows through the tree branches. It’s one of my favorite sounds and I could simply spend all day listening to it.
These simple wooden windchimes make a lovely natural sound and are ridiculously easy to make with minimal supplies. They make the perfect minimalist gift for any outdoor lover, or…just in case you don’t like windchimes, you can still create this fun project and hang it inside the house as wall decor.
Supplies:
Sticks
Thin twine
Paint
Paint brush
Sealer
Drill
Collect, clean and dry your sticks.
If desired, cut your sticks to create clean, flat edges. Otherwise, use as is.
Drill a hole through the top of each stick (horizontally from side to side)
Arrange your sticks (with the holes at the top) in the order you’d like them then paint a line across all of them. This helps you make sure the line is straight even if the sticks aren’t.
Paint each stick from the line down and allow to dry completely.
Seal each stick and the main hanging stick. Let dry completely.
Tie twine through each hole in the sticks.
Tie each stick to the main hanging stick in the order you chose.
Tie a piece of twine at each end of the main hanging stick as a hanger.
