DIY Yarn Wall Hanging Pinable

Wall hangings are so much fun and they don’t have to be expensive or extravagant to be beautiful. If you’ve got a couple of hours pull up a chair and give this beauty a go, you won’t be disappointed.

What you’ll need:

2 colors of yarn

Scissors

Stick

Tape measurer

DIY Yarn Wall Hanging
  1. Scavenge a stick or branch and place it on your work surface.

  2. Cut nine 60” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  3. Fold all nice lengths in half together making sure to keep the center “loop” in one hand.

  4. Drape the center “loop” of the yarn bundle over your stick (in the center).

  5. Using your index and middle finger pull the yarn bundle through the center “loop” to tie it onto the stick.

  6. Cut nine 58” lengths of your #2 yarn color.

  7. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the first yarn bundle.

  8. Cut nine 56” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  9. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the second yarn bundle.

  10. Cut nine 54” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  11. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the third yarn bundle.

  12. Cut nine 52” lengths of your #2 yarn color.

  13. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the fourth yarn bundle.

  14. Cut nine 50” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  15. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the fifth yarn bundle.

  16. Cut nine 48” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  17. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the sixth yarn bundle.

  18. Cut nine 46” lengths of your #2 yarn color.

  19. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the seventh yarn bundle.

  20. Cut nine 44” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  21. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the eighth yarn bundle.

  22. Cut nine 42” lengths of your #1 yarn color.

  23. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the ninth yarn bundle.

  24. Cut nine 40” lengths of your #2 yarn color.

  25. Repeat steps 3-5 on the left side of the tenth yarn bundle.

  26. Starting on the right side of your very first yarn bundle and working right, repeat steps 6-25.

  27. Cut 129- 2” lengths of yarn #1

  28. Cut 88-2” lengths of yarn #2

  29. Working from left to right, top to bottom tie a matching 2” string around each yarn bundle leaving 2” in between each tie.

  30. Adjust the knots to the back of the yarn bundles and cut off any excess from the 2” strings.

  31. Cut a 24” length of yarn in either color and tie to both ends of the stick creating a hanger.
