Selecting Photos for Your Wall

Selecting Photos for Your Wall Pinable

Is there an empty wall in your space that’s been driving you crazy? We’ve all been there! Everyone’s got “that wall”. The one that just needs a little love to make it absolutely perfect. Staring into the emptiness of that space can make it seem like such a daunting task and you start asking “where do I even begin?”

Worry no longer, here are five tips to get you started and on your way to decorating bliss.

Color:

Colors don’t necessarily need to coordinate but keeping a complimentary color palette will help bring your look and feel together. Don’t forget to include your wall color in your image choices. Some colors will bleed out your photos while others are the perfect compliment.

Theme:

Does your home have a beach theme or perhaps you’re trying to make the space more outdoorsy. Choosing a theme can often make image selection easier. You don’t use the same images for this to work but make sure all your images share the same feel. For example: beach, waterfalls, florals, great outdoors, etc.

Size:

Scale is always important to keep in mind! It’s a good rule of thumb to cover at least ⅔ of the wall space. There are multiple, easy ways to achieve this. You can invest in one large image to cover the entire space, create an eclectic gallery with numerous different sized images or create a simple, minimalist grid gallery with multiple images all framed in the same size.

Layout

Layout planning is the most important step when using multiple images.  Make sure your framing selections match your room’s style or the look you are trying to achieve. Google images of wall layouts to help you select one you enjoy. Then determine what images you want in which locations to achieve the best flow in your space.

Love

Choosing images that speak to you will create a wall space that you absolutely love spending time in-front of and showing off to others.

‘til next time,
