Garden Days Card Tutorial
I love making greeting cards! There are endless possibilities and millions of chances to put a smile on someone's face. Normally my cards aren't majorly complicated...like everything else in my life, I like simple. Every once in a while though I like to try my hand at something a bit more challenging. This card is still pretty easy but takes a lot more time than I usually like to spend on my cards. Thankfully the results were quite stunning!
The first thing you'll need is a sheet of blue 12x12" cardstock. Cut that blue down to 5x12" and start your folds by folding it in half. On the left side of your card you're going to want to back fold in half again. You should now have two 3" sections and one 6" for your card base.
Now that your base is ready, cut two 2.75"x4.75" and one 4.75x5.75" rectangles from white cardstock and adhere to the centers of each of your base sections. Cut a 2x12" strip of green, then using scissors create a small "wave" pattern for your grass background...make sure you don't cut off too much or you'll never see it over your fence. Make the same folds as your base and adhere along the bottom of the card.
Cut another strip of green 1.5x12" and fold with the same measurements as your base only start from the right side instead of the left. From here I hand cut my fence and adhered it to the front of my grass strip. For the center of the garden, you're going to need to cut three 3.25" pieces of grass. The front piece should be 1.5", the middle 1.75" and the last 2" tall. Be sure to create your "wave" pattern on each one. Fold .25" on the right side of each piece and adhere in the center of your garden. Make sure you only attach the right side...the left should be free to move about otherwise the card will not lay flat.
So here's where the patience comes in. Something I'm certainly not the best at... See all those flowers? Well, I individually stamped, hand-colored and hand-cut each and every one of them. Talk about dedication. If you want to go this route give yourself plenty of time other wise find a way to incorporate stickers or other flat embellishments.
Add a beautiful greeting to the front and you are all ready to make someone's day a little brighter.
