Rain Cloud DIY Wall Decor Tutorial
With fire season in full swing here in Oregon I’ve been desperately praying for some rain, so I thought it’d be kinda fun to create a cute little rain cloud to hang in the studio. I purchased this cool blanket yarn from Michaels on clearance to create this super quick and easy DIY. It makes the perfect addition to any room and if you’re a rain enthusiast like me can be displayed any season.
What you’ll need:
1/4” heavy weight yarn: 1-3 colors
Scissors
Cardboard
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Batting
Cut out an 8” half circle piece of cardboard.
Cut forty-two 30” pieces of yarn (divide evenly if using multiple colors).
Starting on the outside, flat edge use your hot glue gun to adhere a piece of yarn around the half circle. Make sure you leave 10-12” of yarn hanging below both bottom edges of the cardboard.
Repeat step three working from the outside in until all of the cardboard is covered.
You can trim the dangling yarn to make them all even or leave them different lengths.
Glue a length of batting along the bottom edge of the cardboard to create the cloud.
Adhere an 8” piece of yarn to the top back of the cardboard so you can hang it.
Happy crafting,
Misty
