Does Fear Hold You Back?

While trying to track down a certain photo yesterday I came across a couple I'd completely forgotten that really got me thinking....fear is such a pesky thing!

I know a small amount is necessary for survival but really it's completely irrational for most people. Think about it for a second...what fears do you have? What have these irrational fears kept you from accomplishing?

Have they made reaching your dreams feel impossible? Do they hinder your daily happiness or success?

I consider myself pretty lucky when it comes to fear. I'm not afraid of things like heights, being alone, the sun, new places/people, dogs, etc. You know, the things most people consider normal fears.

Nope, my fears are more internal, like can I really do this or what if I'm not good enough? And let me tell you, those fears are even more irrational and crippling then fears of physical triggers.

It's a mind set and 100% in my control. We fear those things because we've been conditioned to our entire lives. So what's stopping you from removing them? Let me guess, fear right? Nasty cycle isn't it! I recently read The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz and though I don't agree with every single tidbit of information Don shares it gave me a brand new perspective into myself and others.

I've touched on leaving comfort behind, doing things my way and being inspired by others to chase my dreams before but I felt like addressing fear directly was something I needed to do; not only for you but for myself too.

Sometimes we have to step back and re-evaluate our fears. It's the easiest way to see what's changed (or needs to), what's holding us back and determine how irrational our fears really are.

I work hard every day to remove fear from my life. I don't want ANYTHING holding me back or limiting my happiness. I put myself out there and push myself WAY beyond my comfort zone because let's face it, if you never face your fear how will you overcome it?

It doesn't matter if it's submitting for publication, trying out a new technique, joining a new group, exploring a new place, hiking to the top of a mountain or giving yourself permission to just let go. Stare it down and slam the door on it!

You are strong enough to do anything and get everything out of life you want. Why not go for it?

Til Next Time,
