3 Places to Visit this Fall

I know, I know. You're probably already sick of me saying the word fall but I'm madly in love with the season and just can't help myself.

For many residents living in the Evergreen state, fall can seem pretty elusive. Signs of it's beauty aren't around every corner or just waiting outside our door like it is on the east coast, we have to know where to look to enjoy it's splendor.

So today, I want to share a couple of great places to bask in fall's ambiance.

1. Gene Coulon Park in Renton.

This park sits alongside Lake Washington and offers a spectacular drive through vibrant trees. If you're looking to get uninterrupted photos I suggest you arrive early (Sunday is the best day) to avoid the crowds of photographers. While here you can also enjoy the playground, 2 mile paved lakeside trails, a bowl of Ivar's clam chowder or a burger from Kidd Valley.

2. Nisqually Wildlife Refuge

Located just outside Olympia this park offers amazing views all year round and beautiful hues of orange/yellow during the fall. There's a visitor center and over 5 miles of trails. Be sure to bring your $3 fee and to use the restroom before traveling the boardwalk.

3. Paradise at Mt. Rainier National Park

Fall turns Paradise into a lush landscape of vivid red, orange and green. There are dozens of trails to explore, a visitor center and a lodge (both serve food and hot drinks) making this the perfect place for a daylong adventure. I suggest arriving as early as possible as this is an extremely popular spot and the parking lot fills up fast.
